Holnemvolt Székelyföldi Mesefesztivál/Onceuponatime International Storytelling Festival

The Onceuponatime Storytelling Festival is a unique international storytelling event initiated in 2016 in an effort to promote oral storytelling and passing the wisdom of tales. Live storytelling nurturing and promoting the traditional culture, building community and getting to know new cultures.
This 5th edition of the festival focusses on the role of folk tales in education, with training events for storytellers on how to use storytelling techniques in (adult) education and cultural heritage and of course a diverse range of live performances

The workshops are open for the entire world, for storytellers, teachers and everybody who wishes to join. With this event Tipe Tupa wishes to strengthen the storytelling culture and as storytellers arrive from all over Europe this event contribute to the visibility of Storytelling as a performing art and to the Raise the European dimension of Storytelling events.

It is the first time Tipe Tupa Asociation will organise storytelling training so we are very excited to share our programme with you.

Dr. Csenge Virág Zalka: Dancing on Blades, Rare Hungarian folktales

A selection of unique folktales, many of them never published even in Hungarian, told in English for the first time by international storyteller Csenge Virág Zalka. Castles built on flowers, people walking on clouds, fairy queens and enchanted forests come to life in these age-old stories. Let's wander together along the roots and branches of the Tree that Reached the Sky!

Csenge Virág Zalka, PhD., is an international storyteller and story researcher from Hungary. She has published several folktale collections in both English and Hungarian, including Dancing on Blades: Rare and exquisite folktales from the Carpathian Mountains (Parkhurst Brothers, 2018.)

Jan Blake: Life, Death & All the bits in Between

In the beginning there was nothing, save Death, his wife and his only daughter. Using magic, Death created a vast ocean of mud in which he and his family could live. Repulsed by the filth in which Death chosen to live, The Creator, solified the ocean of mud and created a beautiful landscape upon which he set animals of all sizes and descriptions.
Join Jan Blake as she shares tales of creation, extinction and the reasons behind both.
As one of the leading storytellers, Jan Blake has been performing worldwide for 34 years, award winning storyteller, Jan Blake has delighted audiences all over the world. Telling tales from Africa, the Caribbean & beyond, she has a well earned a reputation for her generous and dynamic storytelling style.
As well as performing at all the major storytelling festivals both nationally and internationally, she works regularly with the British Council, leads storytelling workshops for emerging storytellers, and gives masterclasses for teachers, brands, and businesses. She also regularly captivates school children with mesmerising stories.

As well as performing at all the major storytelling festivals both nationally and internationally, she works regularly with the British Council, leads storytelling workshops for emerging storytellers, and gives masterclasses for teachers, brands, and businesses. She also regularly captivates school children with mesmerising stories.
