Galway Public Libraries in association with Storytellers of Ireland, FEST and Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture presents Scéalaíocht…Storia….Contes.

Join us on 20 March World Storytelling Day for this very special online storytelling event.

 

Scéalaíocht….Storia….Contes brings together storytellers and musicians from across Europe and Ireland to celebrate the universal language of storytelling. Galway based storytellers Máirín Mhic Lochlainn and Órla Mc Govern are joined by Raccontamiunastori, Paola Bardi and Davide Balbi from Rome and Monique Burg from Langue d’Oc in France.

 

World Storytelling Day Programme

 

Saturday 20 March @ 2.30pm:  Our World Storytelling Day programme will start with a series of exuberant and exciting family friendly stories and performances that will appeal to children and young people of all ages.

 

Saturday 20 March @ 7.00pm:  Oíche Airneáin, our evening progamme will feature adult-themed narratives full of wit and emotion from each storyteller.

 

‘Storytellers in Conversation’    ‘Oiche Airneáin will conclude with this session, bringing all five storytellers together in conversation with storyteller Nuala Hayes and discussing ‘Scéalaíocht/Storytelling where we are now?’……?

 

The Scéalaíocht….Storia….Contes programme is also complimented by a number of memorable musical performances by musicians Emily Greaney, Róisin & Tomás Mannion which mirror and reflect the different cultural traditions of our storytellers.

 

The event will be available on the Galway Public Libraries YouTube Channel and Facebook page and also on the Galway 2020 Facebook page from 2.30pm on Saturday 20 March.
