Open call for Young Storytellers FEST is looking for Young Storytellers for residencies at 3 international Storytelling festivals. Under the guidance of an expert you will be able to explore the festival, participate in training workshops, exchange ideas and experiences with other storytellers and broaden your international network. Fest will cover travel, accommodation and sustenance expenses. Requirements We are looking for Young Storytellers who: are between 18-29 year are European Residents have training and/or experience in Storytelling able to speak and write a report in English (Help with reporting can be provided if needed) able to work with social media are available during the whole festival (dates below) When Fortellerfestivalen, Oslo, Norway, 13-15 April 2018 International Storytelling Festival, Alden Biesen, Belgium, 18-20 April 2018 Festa do Contos, Montemor-o-novo, Portugal, 17-19 May 2018  Federation for European Storytelling FEST promotes the mobility of ideas and collaborations in and across Europe. FEST Survey: Storytelling in Europe today

As many of you already know, FEST has received a European grant for the development of the storyteller network. The grant is divided into strands, each with its own theme and development goals. Strand 3 is dedicated to the professional development of storytellers. To construct future education for a new generation of artists, we would like to know better how we became storytellers, how we work today and what would be relevant for education on a professional level. Therefore, we would like you to answer this survey and ask kindly to share it with your storytelling friends across Europe. Invitation to participate in FEST project activities & application for support! Dear Organizers, The FEST network received a Creative Europe NETWORK grant to set up a series of storytelling activities in Europe. The general aim of our project is to increase the number and improve the quality of storytelling events and activities in Europe, to develop the professional competences of the actors and stakeholders involved, to broaden the application field of storytelling and to establish a European structure for sharing and cooperation. In order to achieve this we created a working plan for 4 years. This plan is approved by the European Commission and we are offered a grant of 80% of all costs to realise all plans. This grant comes on a yearly basis. We are looking for organisations all over Europe willing to organise storytelling events and activities that fit into the priorities and work plan of year 1 of our project (1 June 2017 ? 31 May 2018). You can find more information in the document attached below. Please send us your ideas and plans and budget by using the form attached by the 10th of September at the latest! The project team will evaluate the applications and select the best ones. These initiatives will be then supported by the project. This support will come in the form of e.g. storytellers, speakers or workshop leaders that will be made available for your event (travel, accommodation and fee covered by the project up to 80% max.) “Transformation” – Call for Contributions for World Storytelling Day! March 20th is World Storytelling Day – a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling. Each year has a theme that people use to organize events, plan performances, and share stories all around the world. The theme of 2017 is Transformation. In order to promote this wonderful event, and share resources by and for storytellers, we are calling for special contributions for the FEST blog on the theme of Transformation!?How you interpret the theme is up to you – you might want to write about the transformative power of storytelling, or the symbolism of shape-shifting in folklore, or your favorite fairy tale of change. You can also share links and sources about books or stories that fit the theme. Send us your storytelling-related blog posts, articles, folktales, links, or other resources at ! Deadline for submissions is March 17th (Friday) (Note: Contributions to the FEST blog in general are always open. The deadline is only for posts and articles specific to World Storytelling Day.)
