SURVEY: Research on mobility in the Live performance sector
We invite you to take part in an important survey which aims to map high mobility in the live performance sector. This survey is part of a research undertaken by a consortium led by KU Leuven – HIVA, together with the research partners of the University of Strasbourg and University of Ghent, in collaboration with Pearle* in the framework of a European funded project entitled MOBILIVE which focuses on transnational employment in the live performance sector.
KU Leuven is responsible for the data collection and analysis of the responses to the questionnaire. Participation in the survey is fully anonymous and is conducted under data protection laws.
Despite several studies already undertaken on artist mobility, there is still a gap in Europe as regards data and figures on this subject. This survey aims to overcome this gap by gathering information from three types of organisations:
- Music & performing arts (i.e. theatre, concerts, opera, dance, circus and other stage productions and related support activities);
- Booking and management activities in the live performance sector;
- Operation of venues (e.g. concert halls, theatres and other arts facilities including also festivals).
To make it as easy and comfortable as possible for you, the survey contains mainly multiple choice questions which only require to tick a box. There are some questions which allow to give extra information on touring abroad or hosting foreign artists. The scope of the survey is primarily related to the social security and employment status of artists and supporting staff. However, should you wish to mention other subjects, there is room for adding comments at the end of the questionnaire or upload any documents that you wish to share with the researchers.
It is estimated that the questionnaire will take you no longer than 15 minutes.
Whilst the questions are in English, any written information may be done in your language if you feel more comfortable.
Deadline to respond is 22 February 2021.
Being the first survey of its kind to map the artistic mobility patterns in Europe, we sincerely hope you can take 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire and as such contribute to an important survey of which the results will be presented in May 2021.
