Symposium: From Homer to Assassin’s Creed

From Homer to Assassin’s Creed

Playing (with) the Odyssey
Told – Played – Read – Discussed

This symposium at the University of Cologne on March 14 will look at one of the most influential works in world literature, the Odyssey. We will experience and discuss the many different kinds of reception: in its original form, in storytelling and in today’s popular culture, be it in books, comics, video games or movies.

The programme spans from a performance of the Odyssey by Hugh Lupton and Daniel Morden to various lectures about the Odyssey in science fiction literature, in movies, comics and gaming (with visual impressions). The programme ends in a round table talk and open discussion.

Lecturers:

Dr. Michael Kleu (German), Dr. des Katharina Kostopoulos (German),

Dr. des Simon Lentzsch( German), Dr. Csenge Virág Zalka (English)

(please note: most lecture will be held in German)

Organized by:
